Dr. Jan Böttcher
Jan graduated in 2008 with a degree in Molecular Biomedicine from the University of Bonn with a diploma. He then received a postgraduate scholarship from the LIMES graduate school - Chemical Biology and did his PhD in Immunology, where he studied T-cell immunity and -memory in the context of liver inflammation. According to doctorate (summa cum laude) in 2013, Jan moved to the group of Caetano Reis e Sousa at the Francis Crick Institute, where he completed a Marie Sklodowska Curie postdoctoral fellowship to investigate cancer cancer immunity through dendritic cells and innate lymphocytes.
In 2017, Jan received funding from the Elite Network of Bavaria to establish his independent junior research group at IMI. From 2018 the junior research group headed by Jan will focus on the mechanisms that control anti-cancer immunity in the tumour microenvironment, with the aim of developing new cancer immunotherapy.
